 In these Regulations,

Act

Act means the Canada Wildlife Act; (Loi)

adult

adult means a person who is 18 years of age or over; (adulte)

animal

animal means any animal belonging to a species that is wild by nature or that is not easily distinguishable from such a species; (animal)

bismuth shot

child

designated

designated means designated by the Minister under subsection 3.2(1); (désigné)

domestic animal

domestic animal means a vertebrate that has been domesticated by humans; (animal domestique)

family

firearm

firearm means any barrelled weapon from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged; (arme à feu)

general interpretation services

habitat

habitat has the same meaning as in subsection 2(1) of the Species at Risk Act; (habitat)

hunt

hunt means to chase, pursue, worry, molest, follow after or on the trail of, stalk or lie in wait for or shoot for the purpose of taking animals, whether or not the animal is subsequently captured, killed or injured; (chasser)

interpretation services

interpretation services means an activity that involves the interpretation of wildlife and is carried out in the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area; (services d’interprétation)

lead jig

lead jig means a weighted hook, used for fishing, that weighs less than 50 g and contains more than 1% lead by weight; (turlutte plombée)

lead sinker

lead sinker means a sinker that weighs less than 50 g and contains more than 1% lead by weight; (lest en plomb)

non-toxic shot

non-toxic shot means any shot composed, by weight, of

  • (a) up to 100% iron, tungsten, tin or bismuth, alone or in any combination of those substances,

  • (b) not more than 45% copper,

  • (c) not more than 40% nickel,

  • (d) not more than 7% Nylon 6, Nylon 11 or ethylene-methacrylic acid copolymer, alone or in any combination of those substances, and

  • (e) not more than1% all other substances combined; (grenaille non toxique)

residence

residence has the same meaning as in subsection 2(1) of the Species at Risk Act; (résidence)

senior

senior means a person who is 65 years of age or over; (aîné)

student

wildlife area

wildlife area means an area of public lands set out in Schedule I. (réserve d’espèces sauvages)

General Prohibitions

  •  (1) Subject to subsections 3.1(1) to (3) and sections 3.6 and 3.7, no person shall do any of the following in any wildlife area except in accordance with a permit issued under section 4 or section 8.1:

    • (a) introduce any living organism whose presence is likely to result in harm to any wildlife or the degradation of any wildlife residence or wildlife habitat;

    • (b) hunt, fish or trap;

    • (c) have in their possession any equipment that could be used for hunting, fishing or trapping;

    • (d) have in their possession, while fishing, any lead sinkers or lead jigs;

    • (e) have in their possession any wildlife, carcass, nest, egg or a part of any of those things;

    • (f) carry on any agricultural activity, graze livestock or harvest any natural or cultivated crop;

    • (g) bring a domestic animal with hooves into the wildlife area;

    • (h) allow any domestic animal to run at large or keep any domestic animal on a leash that is longer than three metres;

    • (i) carry on any recreational activities, including swimming, camping, hiking, wildlife viewing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and skating;

    • (j) participate in a group meal or group event involving 15 or more people;

    • (k) light or maintain a fire;

    • (l) operate a conveyance — including a conveyance without a driver on board — other than an aircraft;

    • (m) conduct a take-off or landing of an aircraft, including a remotely piloted aircraft;

    • (n) operate on land or in the water a remotely controlled self-propelled device or set in motion on land or in the water an autonomous self-propelled device;

    • (o) remove, damage or destroy any poster or sign or any fence, building or other structure;

    • (p) sell, or offer for sale, any goods or services;

    • (q) carry on any industrial activity;

    • (r) disturb or remove any soil, sand, gravel or other material;

    • (s) dump or deposit any waste material, or any substance that would degrade or alter the quality of the environment;

    • (t) remove, damage or destroy any artifact or natural object; or

    • (u) carry out any other activity that is likely to disturb, damage, destroy or remove from the wildlife area any wildlife — whether alive or dead — wildlife residence or wildlife habitat.

  • (2) No person shall, except in accordance with a permit issued under section 4 or section 8.1, hunt or fish from outside the wildlife area for wildlife located in the wildlife area.
