Order Prescribing the Fees and Charges To Be Paid for the Provision of Satellite Remote Sensing Imagery, Tapes, and Services
The Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, pursuant to Order in Council P.C. 1981-239 of January 29, 1981Footnote * made pursuant to paragraph 13(b) of the Financial Administration Act, hereby revokes the Satellite Remote Sensing Services Fees Order made on April 19, 1985Footnote ** and makes the annexed Order prescribing the fees and charges to be paid for the provision of satellite remote sensing imagery, tapes and services, in substitution therefor.

Short Title
1 This Order may be cited as the Satellite Remote Sensing Services Fees Order, 1987.
Fees and Charges
2 A person who is provided by the Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources with a satellite remote sensing imagery, tape or service described in Column I of an item of the schedule shall pay to the Minister the fee or charge set out in Column II of that item.
3 (1) In this section,
- ground station operator
ground station operator means a person who owns or controls the facilities for the direct reception of satellite remote sensing data and is authorized by the satellite operator to receive and distribute these data; (opérateur de station terrestre)
- satellite operator
satellite operator means a person who owns or controls the right to the primary acquisition and distribution of satellite remote sensing data. (opérateur de satellite)
(2) Notwithstanding section 2, a satellite operator or a ground station operator who is provided, during a twelve-month period, by the Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources with a satellite remote sensing imagery, tape or service described in Column I of any of items 6, 7, 15, and 16 of the schedule shall pay to the Minister the following percentages of the fee or charge set out in Column II of that item:
(a) 91 per cent, for up to 150 separate scenes;
(b) 88 per cent, for up to 250 additional separate scenes; and
(c) 85 per cent, for any additional separate scenes.
