Regulations Prescribing the Travel Documents for Which Fees are Payable and the Amount of Those Fees, with a View to the Recovery of Costs of Providing Consular Services

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Treasury Board, pursuant to section 10.1Footnote * of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade ActFootnote **, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Regulations prescribing the travel documents for which fees are payable and the amount of those fees, with a view to the recovery of costs of providing consular services.

Short Title

 These Regulations may be cited as the Consular Services Fees Regulations.

Interpretation

 In these Regulations,

travel document

travel document means any of the following documents that are issued by the Minister for travel purposes:

  • (a) a passport issued pursuant to the Canadian Passport Order;

  • (b) a certificate of identity; and

  • (c) refugee travel papers. (document de voyage)

Fee

 A travel document is subject to the payment of the fee set out in section 4.

 The fee for a travel document that is issued to a person of at least 16 years of age is $25 and shall be paid when the application for the document is made.
