His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Health, pursuant to section 37 of the Canada Consumer Product Safety ActFootnote a, makes the annexed Kettles Regulations.

Interpretation

Definition of kettle

 In these Regulations, kettle means a kettle for household use that releases lead into the water that is boiled in it.

Requirement

Marginal note:Maximum quantity of lead

 A kettle must not release more than 0.01 ppm lead when tested in accordance with the test method set out in the schedule.

 These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered.
