Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, pursuant to subsection 2(2) of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985 Act, assented to on December 17, 1987, being chapter 48 of the Statutes of Canada, 1987, is pleased hereby to fix December 12, 1988 as the day on which the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985, shall come into force and have operation and effect as law.
