Order Transferring Certain Portions of the Department of Foreign Affairs to the Department of International Trade
P.C. 2003-2049 2003-12-12
Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to paragraph 2(a) of the Public Service Rearrangement and Transfer of Duties Act, hereby
(a) transfers to the Department of International Trade, effective December 12, 2003, the control and supervision of the following portions of the public service in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade:
(i) the International Business Development Branch,
(ii) the Trade, Economic, and Environmental Policy Branch, including the Chief Air Negotiator, except for those portions relating to environmental policy, summitry, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the International Assistance Envelope,
(iii) those portions of the Communications Bureau and the Executive Service Bureau that support the international trade policy and international business development including the Trade Communications Division,
(iv) those portions of the International Academic Relations Division relating to international business development,
(v) those portions of the Arts and Cultural Industries Promotion Division relating to international business development,
(vi) those portions of the Policy Planning Secretariat relating to trade policy and international business development,
(vii) those portions of the geographic branches of the Department that relate exclusively to trade policy and international business development,
(viii) those portions of Canadian missions abroad that relate exclusively to trade policy and international business development, and
(ix) the Trade Law Division; and
(b) transfers from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the Minister for International Trade to be styled Minister of International Trade, effective December 12, 2003, the powers, duties and functions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs under the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Act related to international trade and commerce.
