Quebec Fishery Regulations, 1990

Version of section 31 from 2006-03-22 to 2009-03-31:

  •  (1) No person shall fish other than by fly fishing in the waters referred to in Part V of Schedules I to XXV.

  • (2) No person who is engaged in sport fishing in the waters set out in column I of an item of Part IV of any of Schedules I, II, III, XV, XVIII to XXI, XXIII and XXIV shall fish for a species of fish set out in column II of that item with fishing gear other than that set out in column IV of that item.

  • (3) Except as set out in column IV of Part IV of any of Schedules I, II, III, XV, XVIII to XXI, XXIII and XXIV, no person shall engage in fly fishing by means of an artificial fly that is

    • (a) attached to a weighted core line;

    • (b) baited; or

    • (c) equipped with

      • (i) a hook greater than size 5/0, in the case of one single-hook,

      • (ii) a hook greater than size 2/0, in the case of a double-hook or a combination of two single-hooks,

      • (iii) a hook greater than size 6, in the case of a treble-hook, a combination of a double-hook and a single-hook or a combination of three single-hooks, or

      • (iv) a hook or combination of hooks that has more than three points on which a fish may be caught.

  • (4) No person who is engaged in fly fishing in a salmon river shall use

    • (a) more than one artificial fly when salmon fishing is authorized in that river; and

    • (b) more than three artificial flies when salmon fishing is prohibited in that river.
