Regulations Respecting the Stabilization of the Price of Potatoes Produced in 1985

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture and the Treasury Board, pursuant to sections 2Footnote *, 8.2Footnote **, 10Footnote *** and 11Footnote **** of the Agricultural Stabilization Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Regulations respecting the stabilization of the price of potatoes produced in 1985.

Short Title

 These Regulations may be cited as the 1985 Potatoes Stabilization Regulations.

Interpretation

 In these Regulations,

Act

Act means the Agricultural Stabilization Act; (Loi)

market period

market period means the period beginning July 1, 1985 and ending June 30, 1986. (période de mise en marché)

Application

 These Regulations apply to potatoes produced by a producer in the calendar year 1985 and sold by the producer during the market period for table use, processing or seed.

Designation

 Potatoes are hereby designated as an agricultural commodity for the purposes of the Act.

Prescribed Percentage

 For the purpose of determining the prescribed price of potatoes for the market period, the percentage of the base price of the potatoes is hereby prescribed to be 80 per cent.

Payment

 Where the Board so determines, the Board may make payment in respect of potatoes for the purpose of stabilizing the price of potatoes at the prescribed price to provincial producer agencies for the benefit of producers.
