(<DefinedTermFr>heures autorisées</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557353" lims:id="557353" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>Deputy Minister</DefinedTermEn> means the Deputy Minister of National Revenue for Customs and Excise; (<DefinedTermFr>sous-ministre</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557354" lims:id="557354" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>Minister</DefinedTermEn> means the Minister of National Revenue; (<DefinedTermFr>Ministre</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557355" lims:id="557355" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>special services</DefinedTermEn> means customs and excise services</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557356" lims:id="557356"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>provided at any time upon request by any person therefor and approved by the Deputy Minister,</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557357" lims:id="557357"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>provided at any time by a person in a supervisory capacity at an establishment licensed under the <XRefExternal reference-type="act" link="E-14">Excise Act</XRefExternal> or at a bonded warehouse, or</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557358" lims:id="557358"><Label>(c)</Label><Text>provided in connection with</Text><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557359" lims:id="557359"><Label>(i)</Label><Text>the acceptance outside authorized hours of reports from operators of aircraft, trains, vessels or motor vehicles, and</Text></Subparagraph><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557360" lims:id="557360"><Label>(ii)</Label><Text>the examination of persons and the examination and release or other disposition of goods conveyed on aircraft, trains, vessels or motor vehicles,</Text></Subparagraph></Paragraph><ContinuedDefinition lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557361" lims:id="557361"><Text>but does not include</Text></ContinuedDefinition><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557362" lims:id="557362"><Label>(d)</Label><Text>services provided by an officer at a distillery, brewery, tobacco manufactory, cigar manufactory or a tobacco packer licensed under the <XRefExternal reference-type="act" link="E-14">Excise Act</XRefExternal> during a regular 8-hour period prescribed by the Deputy Minister for each day of the week except Saturday and Sunday and any holiday,</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557363" lims:id="557363"><Label>(e)</Label><Text>the examination or documentation at any time of military aircraft, vessels or motor vehicles, or</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557364" lims:id="557364"><Label>(f)</Label><Text>the examination of the effects of a settler or a returning resident of Canada during authorized hours at a destination within a port area. (<DefinedTermFr>services spéciaux</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Paragraph></Definition></Section><Heading lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557365" lims:id="557365" level="1"><TitleText>General</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557366" lims:id="557366"><Label>3</Label><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557367" lims:id="557367"><Label>(1)</Label><Text>Every person for whom a special service is provided shall</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557368" lims:id="557368"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>pay in respect of that service a charge of</Text><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557369" lims:id="557369"><Label>(i)</Label><Text>for the first 2 hours or portion thereof <LeaderRightJustified leader="dot" /> $54; and</Text></Subparagraph><Subparagraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557370" lims:id="557370"><Label>(ii)</Label><Text>for each hour or portion thereof in excess of 2 hours <LeaderRightJustified leader="dot" /> $27; and</Text></Subparagraph></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557371" lims:id="557371"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>provide or pay for the transportation and living expenses of, and suitable accommodation for, each officer required to render such service.</Text></Paragraph></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557372" lims:id="557372"><Label>(2)</Label><Text>Where more than one officer is engaged in performing a special service, the time spent in performing that service is, for the purposes of this section, the aggregate of the time spent by all the officers so engaged.</Text></Subsection><HistoricalNote><HistoricalNoteSubItem lims:inforce-start-date="2006-03-22" lims:fid="557374" lims:id="557374">SOR/83-924, s. 1; SOR/84-932, s. 1</HistoricalNoteSubItem></HistoricalNote></Section><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2024-10-21" lims:enacted-date="2024-03-01" lims:lastAmendedDate="2024-10-21" lims:fid="557375" lims:id="1492597"><Label>4</Label><Text>If the chief officer of customs for the place or area in which a special service is to be performed is of the opinion that security is required to guarantee the payment of charges incurred in providing that service, the person requesting that service must give security in accordance with the requirements of the <XRefExternal reference-type="regulation" link="SOR-2024-42">Financial Security (Electronic Means) Regulations</XRefExternal> and in an amount determined by the Minister.</Text><HistoricalNote><HistoricalNoteSubItem lims:inforce-start-date="2024-10-21" lims:enacted-date="2024-03-01" lims:fid="1492599" lims:id="1492599" lims:enactId="1447665">SOR/2024-41, s. 3</HistoricalNoteSubItem></HistoricalNote></Section></Body><RecentAmendments><Amendment><AmendmentCitation>SOR/2024-41</AmendmentCitation><AmendmentDate>2024-10-21</AmendmentDate></Amendment></RecentAmendments></Regulation>
