Whereas the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission rendered Decision CRTC 90-1042 on October 2, 1990, awarding a cable licence to Al Cablesystems Inc. for the community of Valemount, British Columbia, amongst other cable licences awarded in order to bring cable television services to certain remote communities in Northern Alberta and British Columbia;
Whereas, subsequent to the rendering of Decision CRTC 90-1042, the Governor in Council has received a petition requesting that Decision CRTC 90-1042 be referred back to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission for reconsideration and hearing by the Commission;
And Whereas the Governor in Council, having considered the petition, is of the opinion that it is not in the public interest to set aside or refer Decision CRTC 90-1042 back to the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission for reconsideration and hearing by the Commission;
Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Communications, pursuant to section 14 of the Broadcasting Act, hereby declines to set aside or refer Decision CRTC 90-1042 of October 2, 1990, back to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission for reconsideration and hearing by the Commission.
